Inn on the Rupurara - Nyanga

“Granite mountains and hillsides covered with abundant woodland provide the exquisite setting of Inn On Rupurara."

Vistas of colourful African Highveld stretch before the eyes at every turn, offering a range of colours according to the time of year; once guests arrive there is little need to go any further, because this is the scenic jewel of the Nyanga Mountains.  Inn on Rupurara was built in Cape Country style, with extensive use of local stone and wood.  In the main building the dining room, two lounges and wine bar have hardwood furnishings and attractive fabrics that complement the colours outside.  On either side of the main building, two wings of free-standing lodges are almost hidden on the hillside.
One wing of six lodges overlooks a small dam on the Rupurara River, while the other twelve look over the valley to Rupurara Mountain, the name is chiShona for “bald mans head.”  The Inn is built on a private estate stocked with a variety of plains game and also offers great birding.  Safari-style drives with a trained guide can be especially rewarding.  Other activities on the estate include trout fishing in the clear and cool waters of the Nyangome River, walks and picnics, rock climbing and visits to ancient rock art sites.  Within easy reach of the Inn are two golf courses and a casino, as well as the many other attractions and amenities of the Nyanga area, including a national park, waterfalls, dams, forests and archaeological sites.  Inn on Rupurara has won many accommodation and dining awards since opening in 1997 and may well claim to be the most lauded country resort in Zimbabwe as a result of consistent annual wins of the prestigious Association of Zimbabwe Travel Agents trophy for Best Country Hotel

Eighteen spacious rooms twinned in individual lodges – each with en-suite bathroom 0 tastefully decorated in keeping with the country setting, and each opening onto a generous covered verandah.  Room heaters are provided for those chilly mountain evenings.  The dining room can seat 36 guests and is complemented by a lounge, reading room and wine bar.  Small conferences are hosted for clients who need a tranquil and invigorating setting in which to come up with effective business strategies and solutions.   It is located on the edge of the Nyanga highlands, 80km from Rusape and 90km from Mutare, the village of Juliasdale is less than 10km away.  A short drive on gravel road takes the visitor from the main road to the private Rupurara Estate.  Reservations are essential as casual visitors are not admitted, in order to offer guests the most exclusive and undisturbed of stays.
